Case study 03 · Fleet Savings Explorer

A dinner conversation became a working tool.

Richard helped a founder turn an idea into a website concept and interactive Fleet Savings Explorer. A second co-work session made the experience clearer, more useful and easier to carry back to the team.

The opportunity

Help the customer see what the product could mean for their operation.

The opportunity was to move beyond describing the product and let a fleet operator explore a scenario using their own operating numbers. Richard's contribution was to make that idea usable: a website concept, a calculator and a way for the founder to present the work internally.

The first version followed a conversation over dinner. Rather than leave it as an interesting idea, Richard built something the founder could inspect. A second working session then provided the context and feedback needed to improve it substantially.

How the work progressed

Build something visible. Improve it together. Make it transferable.

01

Dinner → a first working version

The initial conversation became a tangible website and fleet savings concept. That gave the founder something concrete to react to and created a starting point for the next discussion.

The leverage: an idea became a reviewable tool.

02

A second co-work session → a stronger experience

Richard and the founder refined the experience around the fleet operator's decision. The build brought together vehicle selection, wheel-position coverage, editable operating assumptions and a clearer presentation of the modeled business impact.

The leverage: better questions and live feedback shaped a more usable Version One.

03

A complete handoff → a path to continued ownership

Richard prepared the website source, images, calculation logic, pricing notes, design specifications and acceptance checks in one ZIP package. A six-minute Loom walkthrough and step-by-step instructions explained how the founder could rebuild the concept as a new Site in his own ChatGPT account.

The leverage: the founder received both the build and a practical way to understand and continue it.

What we created

A sales conversation made interactive.

A fleet-focused website concept

An industrial visual direction, fleet imagery, product information and a path from exploring the opportunity to discussing validation with the team.

Five vehicle scenarios

Cargo van, box truck, straight truck, tractor and tractor-trailer options, with representative images and editable operating examples.

Inputs tied to the operation

Fleet size, annual distance, fuel economy, fuel price, tire life, selected wheel groups and treatment-cost assumptions.

A clearer impact view

Modeled first-year net benefit, days to payback, monthly cost of waiting, fuel not purchased and estimated tire replacements avoided.

Reports the team could share

A downloadable visual impact report and a print / Save PDF layout that carry the scenario and its assumptions into the next conversation.

A documented model and handoff

US, Canadian and European measurement modes, visible model limits, source files, design assets and rebuild instructions for the founder’s account.

These are capabilities of the demonstration build. Calculator outputs are illustrative scenarios requiring company validation of application, pricing and expected performance.

In the founder's words

“An extraordinary start to presenting this to our team.”

“What you've provided is an extraordinary start to presenting this to our team. The improvement in the Fleet Savings Calculator is huge, from ease of use to visual appeal. I'm truly grateful for all your efforts to serve up this information, step by step, so it translates for me on this end.”

“I can see you're also very proficient in using Loom, which was a perfect way for you to communicate all of this to me. Your communication skills and use of digital tools are very impressive.”

What the evidence shows

A useful build. A clearer handoff. A next step for the team.

The founder's feedback speaks directly to the improvement in usability, visual appeal and communication. He described the work as a starting point for presenting to his team and said he would share their response.

The demonstrated outcome is a working concept and a documented transfer path. Team adoption, commercial deployment and realized fleet savings have not been established in this case study.

The repeatable pattern

Listen for the real opportunity. Build a usable first version. Refine it with the person who understands the business. Transfer the knowledge so the work can continue.

The value extends beyond producing the tool: it includes helping someone understand it and take the next step.

What could your team finally review if the first version existed?

Bring Richard the idea, customer explanation or recurring problem that needs to become a practical tool.
